What to know if you’re Considering a No Bark Dog Collar

Everyone wants the perfect dog, but sometimes they develop behavioral problems that can get in the way of this. One of the most common of all bad habits that dog’s can develop is excessive barking. This can be especially stressful if you live in an apartment or close by your neighbors.

Not only do you have to worry about it keeping you up at night, but also how it’s affecting everyone else. It’s for this reason that many owners turn to a no bark dog collar to fix the problem.

These training collars work in a number of different ways, the most common of which includes emitting a small electric shock when it detects the dog barking. There are other models as well that use various types of corrections such as a spray that is unpleasant to the dog, or even the use of an ultrasonic noise that only the dog can hear. Using this method the dog will quickly associate the displeasure with its barking, effectively eliminating the problem.

It’s important that if you choose a no bark dog collar for your dog that you get a model that is set correctly. Some collars are activated by sound alone and as a result can be triggered from extraneous noise. If your problem with barking comes when your dog is outside, then these types of collars are not the best choice.

This doesn’t mean that a no bark dog collar is out of the question for you. There are different models that attempt to detect a dog barking from the vibration of their throat, and some more advanced models use both sound and vibration to increase their accuracy. This way you won’t have to worry about confusing the dog and can benefit from what they have to offer.

Just like any dog training collar it’s important that they are use properly. Barking is a natural and healthy thing for a dog to do. It’s when it starts to become excessive and a nuisance to everyone around you that something needs to be done. The idea of a no bark dog collar is not to scare the dog into not barking when you place the collar on, but instead it should be used to break the bad habit and retrain them. With a little patience you’ll be able to enjoy a well behaved pet, and the silence that comes with it.
